Maple Village Spring Fayre

The big day of the Maple Village WI Spring Fayre has come and gone, and I think it went well. I haven't participated in a fair in so long, and I forgot how much I love selling at them. You can see me at our display in the photo above. Sorry that my iPhone photo is not as clear as I'd like!

My stamping friend Ruthann and I made the trip to Surbiton on Saturday morning, and the setting for the fayre, inside the St. Andrew's Church, was lovely! There were about 20 stalls total, covering everything from jams and cakes to jewelry and aromatherapy. The attendance was not huge, but it was steady.

Our group of 'Chatty Crafters' was able to sell about £80 worth of our handmade cards, and we thought that was pretty good! By the time we kicked in some more money and the stall fee, that brought our total donation to £115. We decided to give all our proceeds to the Women's Institute's selected charity, Momentum ( It was a good day!

Seasonal Sentiments

When I designed the recent hydrangea cards, I was having a hard time finding just the right sentiment, in the right color, and the right font. To me, the feeling of the font says just as much as the words in the greeting.

To achieve the look and feeling, I turned to the trusty computer and some design software to create greetings of "Happy Easter," "Happy Birthday," and "Thank You." I used the font Signet Roundhand, which has an elegant, yet readable, appearance. I created a green ink color that was close enough to use with Stampin' Up's Pear Pizzaz, as well as coloring the greetings in always usable black ink.

If you would like to print and use these sentiments, you can click to open, save and print the pdf document below.

If you found the greeting document helpful, please let me know and leave a comment.
